      We transformed this dark, cramped kitchen into a bright and airy bistro-like kitchen in one of our most custom projects to date. By extending the ceiling vault all the way to the end of the kitchen and replacing the old lacquered beams with larger, hand hewn white oak beams, the space already felt massively larger. After painting the whole room a soft gray, installing white cabinetry, and laying large white subway tile, the dark and heavy feeling of the old kitchen disappeared. We had to get creative with space, so we designed and built a white oak island, floating shelves and coffee hutch for storage and seating solutions that looked beautiful against the white and brick landscape.
